About us
THE SHOP
Sport Cycle was incorporated in 1991 and immediately started selling new Ducati motorcycles in Calgary. However, the shop's real beginnings were in 1985 when Brian Taylor first began his career in a little shop called Moto Italia, tucked the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, and specializing in Italian motorcycles.
As the shop grew,it became known for its expertise in in all the major Italian marques: Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda, Benelli. Servicing these marques was not the only strength of the shop; parts supply also became a cornerstone of the business...a strength that continues today. For 3 consecutive years, Sport Cycle has placed in the top 4 Ducati service shops in North America in a field of over 200 Ducati dealerships.
Buying a Ducati at Sport Cycle is more of an adoption into a family of enthusiasts rather than a purchase of a motorcycle. In addition to being a local destination, the shop organizes a number of events throughout the year for customers and friends.

THE MAN BEHIND
Brian Taylor
Head Mechanic / Chief Acceleration Officer
Brian has been wrenching and riding on these Italian beauties since the late 70'’s. As a matter of fact, his first Ducati is still in the family.
Brian officially opened up Sport Cycle for business in January of 1985. Even though he worked on all makes of motorcycles, Brian quickly became respected for his work and attention to detail on European bikes, especially the Ducati motorcycle. Since Brian owned a 1979 Ducati 900 SSD, customers quickly realized that Brian could make the somewhat finicky Ducatis of the day run to their full potential.
By the year 1991, Brian was selling, servicing, customizing and most importantly RIDING new and used Ducatis from his very own Ducati dealership…, Sport Cycle. Throughout the years, Brian's meticulous work, attention to detail, passion, and focus on customer satisfaction has made Brian one of, if not the most respected Ducati technician in the country.
Brian returned to racing and finished an impressive 3rd in the Ducati Cup in 2008. He has also won "Tuner Of The Year" award with 9 out of 13 bikes in the Ducati Cup coming out of Sport Cycle.

J
un Hasegawa
Apprentice Technician / Sushi Chef
Jun Hasegawa came into the Sport Cycle family in 2007. Apprenticing under Brian and Yukiya, he has made huge strides in the past five years and has become an excellent mechanic. Living up to Brian'’s standards can be hard sometimes but Jun has worked very hard to meet and exceed those standards daily. His personal machine is a 2003 Honda CBR600RR.
His other passion is food, and he fulfills that by working as a Sushi Chef at a local restaurant on days off and some evenings. He’'s one of the best, and his attention to detail is definitely transferrable!
